I had only planned to try to make two quilts for the Comfort Cases Quilt Donation Drive but there was this fabric that kept speaking to me from the shelves at Michael’s and ya girl can only resist temptation for so long. So I bought some, and chose this pattern to nicely showcase it, it’s one of the Fabric Cafe 3 yard quilt line, so just uses one yard each of 3 fabrics to make a 46 x 54″ quilt. The other fabric I used to make up the detail blocks was just Kona cotton in white and gotham grey.

And can I just say…. how freaking satisfying the construction of these blocks was?

Really. Truly. 15 blocks, I lined up all the pieces and sewed each stage together, chain pieced and pressed between. Satisfying.
I didn’t trim them before piecing together the quilt top though, which was perhaps an error, as some of the seam allowances ended up a little… scant. Maybe 1/8″ instead of 1/4″, so in order to stabilize the seams I used a decorative stitch to quilt the seams between each block, and between the blocks and borders. I then also did a bit of straight line quilting to echo the detail on the blocks.

The backing and binding is some herringbone print flannel, again from Michael’s.
Overall I really love how it came out, and would definitely make it again.
