Let ‘er Rip! An FPP Banner

I bought this pattern in January… so I am really on top of my works in progress! Ha! One thing that held me back from starting it was a lack of solid/reads as solid fabrics, but I got a couple of fat quarter sets and now I am good to go!

This pattern is by Happy Sew Lucky, and the instructions are pretty good along with the videos she has available for some extra tips for beginners

I did the piecing a little at a time, leaving a little extra around the edges until I was ready to attach all the pieces together, at which time I trimmed them all to the edges of the paper templates.

The majority of the fabrics used are part of the Speckled collection by Rashida Coleman-Hale for Ruby Star Society, along with background fabric from the Starry collection by Alexia Abegg for Ruby Star Society, the handle and letters just came from some scraps I had in my stash.

To make it into a hanging banner I made hanging tabs from the same fabric as the pink banner background, and used fusible fleece to give it more structure. I did a little hand quilting along the letters and flash to give it a bit more texture, and used a red bead for the detail on the seam ripper. The blobs on the end of the 3/16″ wooden dowel are made from polymer clay… just for a little fun!

It look so cute! I am pretty happy with it.
